COACH DATA
End of the Year Reflections:
Kate Frewin
This journey has been a rewarding yet difficult experience for me. I have enjoyed working closely with a group of dedicated teachers who want to improve student outcomes and their own practice. It has been pleasing to see teachers relationships grow as they are afforded opportunities to build relationships, incorporate new strategies and reflect on practices and changes made. I have learnt that one size does not fit all and that teachers work most effectively when a variety of approaches are used.

I have found the role of a coach an enlightening experience. I started out the year thinking I was going to 'change the world' as a coach. I have since learnt to celebrate small successes and that everyone's journey is different. It takes more than just being passionate about something to be an effective coach and it certainly takes more resilience than I initially realised.
Reflecting upon the past year, I have most enjoyed the opportunity to engage with my peers and my fellow coaches. It is a lovely to get a chance to appreciate the different talents among the staff and see positive changes occur. I recognise that the work we have done is merely the planting of a seed that will need to continue to be nurtured. It does make me excited at the prospect of continuing a culture of coaching at the College. |

I have found being a coach and one of the initiating members of the LNCA project at TSAC both rewarding and challenging. Rewarding in the sense that this school base project has been very successful across a range of year levels on the primary campus. It has been amazing learning alongside my colleagues, collaborating and leading within a teaching a learning capacity. Challenging in the sense that this project has seen teachers jump ‘on and off the bus’. However, in these early stages, it has not been a mandatory school approach. This has allowed the coaches and coachees to build relationships and establish some thoughtful goals to benefit College writing outcomes in a small group for 2016 and beyond.
